Sami Adwan, a PH.D holder in Education Administration: Organization and Leadership. University of San Francisco, California, USA(1987), MA degree in Education Administration. San Francisco State University, San Francisco, California, USA(1982) and BA degree in Education (major), Sociology (minor). University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan(1976). Adwan, is a Professor of Education and a teachers trainer at the Faculty of Education at Bethlehem University. He is the Palestinian co-director and co-founder of the Peace research Institute in the Middle East (PRIME). His research focuses on Palestinian education, schoolbooks, and the role of education in building peace and on religious education as a means for co-existence. He authored “The status of Religious Education in Palestinian School (2001), and co-edited “Comparative Analysis of the Israeli and Palestinian Conflict in History and Civic Education (2004), “Learning each other’s historical Narratives (p. 1, 2 and 3)”, “ Victimhood and Beyond”, The Role of Palestinian and Israeli NGOs in Peace Building” “Participation and Justice: preconditions for reconciliation”(2011) and co-authored “Memories of the Palestinian refugees in 1948(2011)”. Side by side, Parallel Histories: Israel and Palestine (2012). His latest research with Prof. Bar Tal and Bruce Wexler was on “The Portrayal of the other in Israeli and Palestinian school books” He won many prizes for his work. The latest one is the first prize “ Living together peacefully in a diverse world”. He was a visiting Prof. at the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies.
