Sise Sawaneh
Youth and Children Empowerment Officer, Peace Ambassadors- Gambia

Young Peacebuilders

Sise Sawaneh was born in the farthest region of The Gambia, Upper River Region and in a highly populated village called Garawol. Sise is from an extended family with over twenty siblings but she is the first to acquire a university degree and worked as a journalist. She is an award-winning journalist and activist. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree program in Journalism and Digital Media at the University of The Gambia. Sise does journalist work with the State broadcaster, The Gambia Radio and Television Services and a contributor to The Standard Newspaper. Sise is the first Media Ambassador of The Girl Generation in The Gambia, Youth and Children Empowerment Officer of the Peace Ambassadors-The Gambia, First badge alumni of the West Africa Young Peace-builders under the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, UNAOC/UNOY, Served in the Pre-drafting of the information bill under United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, UNODC, Gender expert for the Ecowas Early Warning Directorate and the Country Coordinator of the West Africa Youth Conference. Sise has reported on elections, peace, gender issues and democratization as her area of specialty. She has undergone different trainings in the country and internationally where she also receives numerous awards and certificates for her dedication and hard work. Being an experienced and passionate target-driven young female with trail record on successful implementation of coordinated activities, she possess excellent interpersonal communication and intercession skills, and the ability to develop and maintain mutual internal and external relationships. She enjoys being part of a team as well as being able to work unsupervised using own scheme where necessary and strives in a highly pressurized and challenging working environment for a positive change.
