The CSO-UN Dialogue on Peacebuilding Initiative

DPPA, alongside civil society and UN partners, launched the CSO-UN Dialogue on Peacebuilding Initiative in 2023. The Initiative aims to enable diverse civil society actors, especially those from the Global South, to contribute to global peacebuilding policies and objectives, and to enable the UN to more systematically engage with CSOs in its work building and sustaining peace. Culminating in annual Dialogues, the Initiative aims to build an institutionalized platform for UN-CSO-Member State engagement on peacebuilding and facilitate collaborations and network-building among diverse CSOs.

2025 CSO-UN Dialogue on Peacebuilding 

This year’s Dialogue will focus on a whole of system approach to peacebuilding and operationalizing the Peace, Human Rights, Development, and Humanitarian Nexus, with Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) as crosscutting themes. The Dialogue seeks to convene diverse CSO representatives with expertise in this regard at the UN Office in Geneva (UNOG) on December 10-11. The Dialogue will have in-depth thematic sessions, small-group breakout discussions, dedicated sessions where participants can interact with intergovernmental bodies and UN representatives, and opportunities to network with other CSOs.
