Generation Connect Global Youth Summit 2022

We are excited to share with you an ITU initiative to engage young women in the upcoming Generation Connect Global Youth Summit (GCGYS) in Kigali, Rwanda from 2-4 June, 2022!

The Generation Connect Global Youth Summit will be held on 2 – 4 June 2022, preceding the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) under the WTDC’s theme Connecting the unconnected to achieve sustainable development.

The Generation Connect Global Youth Summit will be in a hybrid format, with physical participation, as well as virtual youth engagement. Youth aged 18 – 29 are invited to participate physically. Virtual participation will also be open to youth aged 15 – 29.

In partnership with the Government of Canadatwelve outstanding young women from developing countries (ages 18-24, 2 from each ITU region) will be selected as the first group of “Generation Connect Gender Champions.” Successful applicants will have all costs covered to take part in the GCGYS. They will participate in pre-Summit planning, host sessions at the Summit, and contribute to ongoing projects which focus on gender equality in ICTs and STEM.

Here is a link to the Gender Champions webpage with more information on this volunteer opportunity as well as the link to apply!  Please note that the closing date for applications has been set as 3 April, 2022.
