Ala Oueslati is a feminist activist and blogger from Tunisia. He is currently based in New York working for Planned Parenthood Global, the international arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. He is a communication, media, and advocacy professional, as well as a freelance journalist, writing for the International Peace Institute Global Observatory, the Huffington Post, Impakter, Make Every Woman Count etc. Mr. Oueslati writes on gender equality, women’s rights, and African and Middle Eastern affairs. Ala Oueslati is a Women Deliver Young Leader and a UN Empower Women Global Champion, working on advancing women’s rights, health, and wellbeing and economic empowerment, notably in the Middle East and Africa. He has previously worked for the Hickey Center for Interfaith studies and Dialogue at Nazareth College of Rochester where he pursued his Undergraduate studies. He also worked for Initiatives of Change in Switzerland, the UNDP in Mauritania, the African Union in Ethiopia, and UNICEF, and spoke in numerous occasions and events around the world. He has been featured on the BBC, Al Jazeera, the Huffington Post, United States Peace Institute, the UN website and more. Ala has recently has been named winner of the 120 Under 40 Family Planning Award, given by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Johns Hopkins University.
