Amadu Wurie Jalloh is a cofounder, Liaison Officer and Adviser of the Students Analysts and Writers Network (SAWN) of the University of Makeni (UNIMAK), Ernest Bai Koroma University (EBKUS), and College of Management and Administration (COMA). He served as the organization’s first Deputy Chief-writer. SAWN was founded in 2013 at the University of Makeni with the aim of promoting education through creative writing and to create an informed society by critically analyzing socio-political, cultural, and economic issues affecting communities at both local and international levels. SAWN runs five weekly radio programs centered on education, good governance, and child right advocacy across four different radio stations in Makeni. Jalloh has been a media and community activist since October, 2003 when he was appointed HIV/AIDS Peer Educator by Children for Peace International (CHIPPIN-SL). Over the years, he has worked with several institutions to promote democracy and good governance, community development and peace and conflict management, including the National Electoral Commission (SL), National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA), and Institute for Governance Reform (IGR). He has BA in Development Studies from the University of Makeni (UNIMAK). He is a columnist for the Provincial Times Newspaper, and a blogger. He has also served as a guest speaker for several symposiums and a judge to several debate programs organized by the Students Representative Council (SRC) of UNIMAK and EBKUS. Meanwhile, Jalloh is also a member of Fullah Progressive Union Sierra Leone (FPU-SL) and the Public Relations Officer of Fottal Social Club, both groups established to promote and protect the cultural heritage and rights of the Fullah ethnic group, whilst empowering its youths in short-term computer literacy programs and providing a platform for them to express their views pertaining national happenings through its weekly radio talk-show at Radio Mankneh (FM 95.1), Makeni.
