Angela Muthama

As Executive Director for the Human Rights and Information Forum, a Kenya-based non-governmental organization dedicated to protecting human rights through advocacy initiatives and legal services, Angela Muthama oversees programs on civic education and good governance in Central Kenya. She manages the organization’s staff and volunteers, supports fundraising and monitors and evaluates the organization’s grassroots democracy and governance programs. While in the U.S., Muthama worked at Citizens Union in New York City where she gained experience with approaches connecting local government officials with community members for more effective and transparent governance. Muthama is developing a tool that will allow her community to evaluate leader effectiveness in development through informed citizen participation.
