Cedric Baecher

Fellowship Programme

A dual French and Swiss citizen, Cédric Baecher is a 35 year-old entrepreneur, co-founder (2002) and Managing Director of Nomadéis, an independent consulting agency focusing on sustainability and international cooperation issues. In 2001, before creating Nomadéis and after his graduation from the ESSEC-MBA (www.essec.fr), he accomplished a one-year world tour and research journey on water and poverty, covering 6 countries and 10 cities with the support of UNESCO and of the French writer Jacques Attali. He then acquired an extensive experience of sustainable development issues, working on both strategic and operational consulting assignments in 50+ countries, with a diversity of stakeholders (corporations, national and local governments, foundations, NGOs), specializing in environmental services, corporate social responsibility, public-private partnerships and sustainable urbanization. In order to bring an innovative contribution to the Rio+20 Conference, he co-founded ScenaRio 2012, the first global research on youth and sustainable development (30,000 young people surveyed in 30 countries and 100 personalities interviewed), supported by the United Nations and placed under the patronage of H.S.H. the Prince Albert II of Monaco and his Foundation. In 2012, he was invited by French author Jacques Attali (one of the top 100 public intellectuals in the world, according to the Foreign Policy Magazine 2008) to join an international reflection group gathering 60 committed individuals, from all spheres of influence (international organizations, businesses, media, NGOs, think tanks and academic institutions, etc.). The Group's report was published in September 2013 (Fayard / La Documentation française). It recommends 45 measures to boost the development of a positive economy and points out the need to develop new assessment tools. A Member of the Board of the Solucom corporate Foundation, providing support to underprivileged children in France and internationally, Cédric is involved with various non-profit institutions as well as an active member of the UN-Habitat-led World Urban Campaign. Cédric is a Fellow of the Young Leaders Programmes of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, the American Swiss Foundation and the Council for the US and Italy. He currently lives in Paris with his wife Elena and two children Manuel and Eva.
