Kato Ssekah Abdu

Youth Solidarity Fund (YSF)

Kato Ssekah Abdu is a Founder and the Executive Director of Integrated Community Development Initiative (ICODI); a Non Profit and Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) in Uganda. Kato holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management (PGD-FM) and an MBA (Finance and Accounting) plus other post graduate certificates in different fields. While at the University, Kato volunteered in different community focused and health care organisations in rural Uganda where he was involved in community development work and social-economic and health researches. This exposed him to a lot of challenges facing the rural and urban poor populations in Uganda and led him to establish a Non Profit and Non Governmental Organisation called Integrated Community Development Initiative (ICODI) to focus on food insecurity, poverty, illiteracy and ill health. Later in 2010, him and his colleagues started voluntary projects in rural communities in line with HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis awareness and prevention as well as youth empowerment and community economic development. Kato is also a youth peace building expert who volunteered and trained in different youth peace building initiatives in the refugee camps and other communities in South Western Uganda. Since 2014, he has been involved in different youth peace building initiatives, In 2017, he coordinated a youth peace building project funded by UNAOC titled “Youth Centred Approach to Building Mutual Respect among Peoples of Different Cultural and Religious Identities” that focused on training youth in Nakivale Refugee Settlement and host communities in Isingiro District-South Western Uganda in peace building, rejecting extremism and embracing diversity.
