Minetu was born and lives in the Saharawi Refugee Camps, South west of Algeria with her family who among thousands of Saharawis had fled their homes in Western Sahara in 1975 escaping the brutal war between Polisario Front and Moroccan Amy. Minetu has over ten years of experience in human resources management. She works now as programme officer for NPA Humanitarian Disarmament Programme in Western Sahara. Minetu is longstanding active member of the Saharawi Youth Union (UJSARIO), she used her strong commitment to her work for her people to spread more knowledge about Sahrawi youth and the challenges facing them in the refugee camps, her commitment to the values of democracy, social justice and above all promoting feminist values in the Saharawi society has made her a distinguished voice and inspiration for many young women today and enabled her to be elected as African Vice-President of International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY). In her spare time Minetu is addicted to reading novels especially the ones depicting human harmony and love.
