Youth Solidarity Fund (YSF)



Othman Sheriff is the founder and Project Coordinator of Youth in Action for Development. He is a fearless youth volunteer, human-right and democracy activist in post war Sierra Leone. He has successfully spearheaded several development projects in the eastern part of Sierra Leone, including but not limited to: information and communication technology training, offline digital library, primary school education, rural infrastructural development, conflict mediation and campaign against ethnic based politics, religious and cultural discriminations and social recreational activities for youths. He began his carrier as a linguist and translator: English and Arabic, but later changed course after he found his way to Europe in search of greener pasture. He has a bachelor’s degree in mass-communication, Masters in Peace and Conflict Management, and Microsoft Certified Technology Specialization in software and web-programming. He can speak English, Arabic, German,Hebrew (moderate) and few other Sierra Leonean dialects. While currently serving as Project Coordinator for Youth in Action for Development (YAD), Sheriff is also active in the mass-media as a freelance journalist. He is the Editor in Chief of Critique Echo Newspaper (www.critiqueecho.com) which is based in Kenema, eastern Sierra Leone. Sheriff has worked for several prominent institutions including the International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Volkshochschule, Hamburg and Syllego GmbH, Berlin, Germany.
