Rashida Namulondo is an award winning performance poet, actress and youth worker whose works seek to use narratives and stories as a source of social healing and development. Driven by her own experience of trauma and depression, Rashida founded the Sophie Muwanika Institute of Art for Change, a social venture that uses theatre modules to provide psycho social support and alternative education to vulnerable communities. In conjunction with other organizations and relief agencies she works in schools, disaster points, refugee camps and many more communities using storytelling to promote therapy and reconciliation in young traumatized women and girls and engage them in being key players in creating change in their communities using their stories. Rashida has been recognized for her work in theatre for changing communities and was named a Laureate Global fellow in 2016. She is also a fellow of Social Entrepreneurs Transforming Africa (SET Africa), a pioneer member for the iDOVE (Interfaith Dialogue on Violent Extremism) network and a One Young World Peace Ambassador for Sustainable Development Goal 16.
