I am psychotherapist and human rights activist. I am a recognised youth leader for extensive work in relation to youth empowerment, advocating for reconciliation, cohesion and peace-building approaches in countering and preventing the spread of violent extremism and violence of all kind in the Somali society and globally. I am Chair person and founder of SAVE - Somalis Against Violent Extremism, a international grass-root youth led Somali peace-building, reconciliation and countering violent extremism. The movement values and mission are based on 'the building principles on young people's participation in peacebuilding', SDG 16 and on Gene Sharp 'from dictatorship to democracy' 'how non-violent struggle works 'and 'handbook for non-violent campaign published by War Resisters International. I am the director of Somaliland YPEER, a UNFPA funded youth organisation that focuses on reproductive health, youth leadership and youth unemployment. - I represented Somali youth at world first humanitarian summit which took place in Istanbul - Turkey; advocating and bringing awareness to the challenges of Somali youth in the context of humanitarian challenges they face such as migration, climate-change, youth unemployment and violent extremism. I particularly participated in the high level session on 'transforming humanitarian action with and for young people' and 'the empowerment of women/girls'. A leadership program for African leaders bringing change to their home countries. - Due to my non-political and division approach to the challenges facing Somali youth - I am the only Somali youth leader who have been able to participate in Somalia's National youth conference in Mogadishu which took place in 2017, and Somaliland National Youth conference in 2018 in Hargeisa.
