Sebastián Cabrera

Young Peacebuilders

I’m a passionate young Guatemalan activist, musical theater actor, youth advocate, and social communicator dedicated to human rights and social justice, with a focus on gender equality and sexual and reproductive health and rights. I have spearheaded impactful social projects that elevate youth participation in decision-making spaces and political dialogues. My efforts in gender equality advocacy and the implementation of innovative educational programs have tackled critical issues such as gender-based violence, unintended teenage pregnancies, and peacebuilding in conflict and insecurity zones. I’ve worked with vulnerable populations, including children, women, indigenous people, adolescents in conflict with the law, and LGBTIQ+ youth. I currently serve as the National Youth Coordinator of the Observatory on Sexual and Reproductive Health (OSAR Juvenil Guatemala). I have been recognized as a “Young Guatemalan Inspiration” by the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Congress of the Republic of Guatemala. Through these initiatives, I have empowered marginalized communities and fostered meaningful change. My dream is to advance Guatemala's development by connecting indigenous peoples, women, and marginalized youth to opportunities that enable them to achieve prosperous, secure, and dignified lives. Addressing sexism and sexual and gender-based violence is key to breaking cycles of discrimination, exclusion, and human rights violations.
