Course outline:

  • Fundamentals of Democracy

  • Introduction to Digital Democracy

  • Progressive aspects of Digital Democracy

  • Threats of digitalization for Democracy

Learning outcomes: 

At the end of this course, you will be able to,

  • Analyze the fundamentals of democracy

  • Assess how digital democracy contributes towards upholding the fundamentals of democracy

  • Evaluate the progressive aspects and threats of digital democracy

  • Formulate how you can utilize digitalization to promote democracy

Course instructors: Rohan Edrisinha and Binendri Perera

Duration: 5 weeks (5, 2hr virtual sessions via Zoom on consecutive Wednesdays from 6.00 p.m, commencing 3rd November 2021)

Criteria for participants:

  • A keen interest in democracy and its intersection with the digital sphere and minority rights

  • Ability to take part in weekly virtual sessions and complete course work (not extensive)

  • Preference will be given for those below the ages of 35 years
