On this year’s International Day of Peace, Post-Conflict Research Center’s (PCRC) president Velma Saric has been chosen as Peace Ambassador by the Centre for Peace Studies in Sri Lanka. This award recognizes PCRC’s work as an inspiration to societies striving towards ideals of diversity, transparency and democracy.
We would like to thank the International Organization for Migration for providing us with a platform in Sri Lanka. We would also like to thank Mr. Peter Mousaferiadis, founder and CEO of Cultural Infusion, an international organization which focuses on intercultural innovations and building sustainable cultural harmony, for recommending us for this recognition.
Both PCRC and Cultural Infusion are alumni organizations of the Intercultural Innovation Award, which aims to support the most innovative grassroots projects that encourage intercultural dialogue and cooperation around the world.
The Peace Ambassador Title was also given to Dr. Charles Wratto, an inspiring peace activist and ex-child soldier from Liberia who recently visited PCRC in Sarajevo and held an interactive discussion around peacebuilding, reconciliation, transitional justice, human rights, and democracy. Video interview from Sarajevo with Dr. Wratto is available here.
We hope that this recognition will be used in future for more innovative projects between PCRC, Centre for Peace Studies and UN Alliance of Civilizations and as an opportunity to replicate our award-winning projects towards global efforts in building a peaceful world for the generations to come.
